ThingSIM at a glance
ThingSIM sells data SIMs for connected devices such as alarm panels, routers, card machines, EV chargers, CCTV cameras, trackers and sensors. Businesses order SIMs with an order request, which we confirm by email; SIMs arrive switched off. Billing for each one starts when it is activated in the ThingSIM portal, or automatically 30 days after despatch (30 days after issue, for an eSIM), with at least 5 days' email notice. The Ireland multi-network plan roams across the Irish mobile networks (Vodafone, Three and eir) and uses whichever is strongest where the device is. ThingSIM is operated by Netavo, a UK network services provider, and sells to business customers only.
The facts
- SIMs arrive inactive. Billing starts when you activate, or automatically 30 days after we despatch your SIM (30 days after it is issued, for an eSIM); we email you at least 5 days before.
- Ireland multi-network plans roam across Vodafone, Three and eir, from €0.99 a month per SIM for 50 MB.
- Plan sizes are 50 MB, 250 MB, 1 GB and 5 GB a month; 1 GB on Ireland multi-network is €2.49 a month.
- Each SIM costs €2.49 once, whether a physical trio SIM (mini, micro and nano) or an eSIM delivered as a QR code.
- When a SIM uses its monthly allowance it pauses instead of charging overage; upgrade it straight away or wait for the reset.
- If a payment is late, we email you and give you at least 3 days to pay. If it is still unpaid, your SIMs may be suspended until you pay, and no new SIMs can be activated while the account is in arrears.
- No contract: billed monthly per active SIM, ex VAT, under the VAT reverse charge. Up to 25 SIMs per order request; larger fleets are set up with us.
- Every SIM gets a private IP address; a static public IP is €9.49 a month. Private APN, IPSec VPN and cloud interconnect are available as extras.
- Europe plans, for devices that work in other European countries, have fixed monthly allowances on the plans page; 20 GB is priced on request.
