Order 50 MBSet up a ThingSIM data SIM in a Teltonika FMB920 GPS tracker in Ireland: SIM size and plan, the APN in Configurator or by SMS, roaming send periods and fixes.
The Teltonika FMB920 is a small vehicle tracker used for fleet tracking and stolen-vehicle recovery. It uses 2G only. It takes a micro SIM, and the APN is set in Teltonika Configurator or by SMS.
Specifications and menu paths checked against Teltonika's own documentation on 3 November 2026; sources are listed at the end. Menus can move between firmware versions, so if yours differs, follow the manual for your version.
A compact GNSS tracker with an internal battery, sending position reports to a tracking platform over the mobile network. Teltonika lists it as a current product.
Compatible on 2G. The FMB920 is a 2G GSM tracker (850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz) with no 4G, LTE-M or NB-IoT. ThingSIM SIMs work on 2G, and no Irish operator has announced a date to switch 2G off; Vodafone says it is still investing in its 2G network. Even so, 2G will not last for ever, so for new installs that need a long life, choose a 4G model such as the FMC920. The FMB920 takes a micro SIM, so order a physical ThingSIM and push out the micro size.
Position reports are small. A tracker reporting every minute or two while driving usually fits in Ireland multi-network 50 MB at €0.99 a month; frequent reporting or firmware updates over the air may need 250 MB at €1.29. See choosing a SIM for a GPS tracker.
setparam 2001:APN;2002:;2003: with the portal's APN after 2001:. Parameter 2001 is the APN, 2002 the username and 2003 the password.Teltonika trackers have no dedicated data LED. The status LED blinks fast for a moment during modem activity and blinks every second in normal operation; the navigation LED stays on while there is no GNSS fix. The real test is the tracking platform: drive the vehicle and check positions arrive, then look at the SIM's usage in the ThingSIM portal.
Yes. Insert the micro SIM, enter the APN shown in your ThingSIM portal in Configurator's GPRS settings (parameter 2001) and set send periods for Roaming and Unknown operators.
A micro SIM, the middle size on the ThingSIM trio card.
Not once 2G closes. It has a 2G modem only. No Irish operator has announced a 2G switch-off date yet, but when one comes the FMB920 will stop connecting, so plan to replace it with a 4G model such as the FMC920 over time.
Checked on 3 November 2026.
Roams across Vodafone, Three and eir and uses whichever is strongest where the device is.
