Dragino Routers and Gateways: SIM Setup Guide
Dragino's LoRaWAN gateways are a low-cost way to cover a farm, a building or a site, and the 4G versions need no wired line, which suits rural Ireland. A ThingSIM gives the gateway its uplink on whichever Irish network reaches it.

Setting up a ThingSIM in the Dragino gateway web interface
The APN goes in Network → Cellular (LPS8N: System → Cellular). Copy it from the SIM's page in the ThingSIM portal; there is no username or password.
- Activate the SIM in the ThingSIM portal, insert it (a micro SIM on the LPS8v2) and power-cycle so it is detected.
- Check the label shows the 4G modem is fitted (EC25).
- Go to Network → Cellular, or System → Cellular on the LPS8N.
- Tick Enable and enter the APN from the portal. Leave the PIN code, username and password blank.
- Save & Apply.
- On the home page a green tick on the cell icon means the gateway is online over 4G.
Two SIMs for failover
Dragino gateways take one SIM. 4G can be the main uplink or a backup used only while Ethernet or Wi-Fi is down.
Checking it works
The cell icon on the home page is green when online over 4G, yellow when 4G is up but standing by as backup, and red with no connection.
