Tested with ThingSIM
Ewon (HMS Networks) routers and gateways, tested with ThingSIM.
Ewon remote-access routers let machine builders reach PLCs on customer sites through Talk2M. With a ThingSIM in a 4G Cosy+ or Flexy, the machine has its own connection and never needs the customer's network.
Setting up a ThingSIM in the Ewon web interface and eBuddy, with Talk2M
The APN goes in Setup → System → Communication → Networking → Internet Connection → Modem. Copy it from the SIM's page in the ThingSIM portal; there is no username or password.
- Activate the SIM in the ThingSIM portal, then insert it in the Ewon's SIM slot.
- Run the Internet Connection Wizard, or open the Modem page.
- Set the country and provider to custom and enter the APN from the portal as the Access Point Name. Leave the PIN, username and password blank.
- If it does not register, use Operator Selection to pick a UK network (O2, Vodafone, Three or EE).
- Save and reboot the Ewon.
- The Modem page's status section shows the network, connection type and signal, and the Ewon then appears online in Talk2M.
Two SIMs for failover
Ewon 4G models take one SIM.
Checking it works
The Modem page's status section on the Ewon, and the device's online status in eCatcher or Talk2M.

Does a ThingSIM work in an Ewon Cosy+ 4G?
Yes. Insert the SIM, set the APN from the portal in the modem settings and the Ewon connects to Talk2M over mobile data.
How much data does an Ewon use?
An idle Talk2M connection uses little, and remote sessions add more. Most machines fit in 250 MB or 1 GB a month; check usage in the portal and change plan if needed.
