Order 5 GBSet up a ThingSIM data SIM in a Teltonika RUTX11: which SIM size and plan, inserting the SIM, the RutOS APN and roaming settings, SIM failover and troubleshooting.
The Teltonika RUTX11 is a dual-SIM 4G Cat 6 router with gigabit Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi. It takes a mini SIM, and a ThingSIM connects on whichever of O2, Vodafone, Three and EE is strongest once the APN is set in RutOS.
Specifications and menu paths checked against Teltonika's own documentation on 3 November 2026; sources are listed at the end. Menus can move between firmware versions, so if yours differs, follow the manual for your version.
A gigabit router with two SIM slots and dual-band Wi-Fi. Teltonika has announced end of ordering on 3 February 2027 and end of support on 3 August 2032, with the RUTM11, RUTM16 and RUTC16 as replacements.
Compatible. It supports LTE Cat 6 with 3G fallback and no 2G. Teltonika lists LTE bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 28 and 32, plus 38, 40 and 41 for the versions sold in Europe, which cover the 4G bands used by all four UK networks. The RUTX11 has two mini SIM (2FF) slots, so order a physical ThingSIM and use the mini size. Some versions add an eSIM.
As a failover router that only carries traffic when the fixed line drops, UK 4-network 1 GB at £2.40 a month usually fits. For a site where it is the main connection for cameras or several devices, start on 5 GB at £8.85 and check usage after the first month.
Two-SIM models use one SIM at a time. Rules are set on the SIM Switch tab of Network → Mobile, with conditions such as weak signal, no network, network denied, data connection failure and data limit. Do not enable the On roaming condition for a ThingSIM: it would switch away from the SIM every time it connects, because a ThingSIM always roams. One UK 4-network ThingSIM already uses O2, Vodafone, Three and EE, so a second SIM mainly helps where a different provider or a private APN is wanted. Each active SIM is billed separately.
Status → Network → Mobile shows the SIM card state, operator, network type, connected band, signal quality (RSSI, RSRP, RSRQ, SINR) and the data connection state, with buttons to restart the connection or switch SIM slot. Teltonika RMS shows the same remotely, and the ThingSIM portal shows the SIM's usage.
Yes. The RUTX11's LTE bands cover all four UK networks. Put the SIM in, switch Auto APN off and enter the APN shown in your ThingSIM portal, and leave Deny data roaming off.
A mini SIM (2FF), the largest size on the ThingSIM trio card.
No. It is a 4G Cat 6 router with 3G fallback and no 2G, so it relies on 4G in the UK.
Checked on 3 November 2026.
Roams across all four UK networks and uses whichever is strongest where the device is.
