# SIMs for traffic management

## What the kit needs

### Coverage wherever the job is

Roadworks are often in poor signal. Each SIM uses whichever UK network is strongest on that stretch of road.

### Switched on per job

Keep SIMs in the kit between jobs. Activate one when a unit is first deployed, and pause it from the portal when it is parked up.

### Remote control, privately

Change a message or check a fault from the office over a Private APN or IPSec VPN, without exposing the unit to the internet.

## How it connects

Signal or sign → mobile data → ThingSIM core (Private APN) → IPSec VPN → Your control system (Monitoring / updates).

## Recommended setup

**250 MB, UK 4-network, one SIM per unit.** Status reporting uses little data; units that stream images need a larger plan.
