# SIMs for refrigeration and cold chain monitoring

> A freezer that fails overnight costs the stock in it. Monitors with a ThingSIM report temperatures and alarms on their own connection, so a warning gets out even when the site’s network doesn’t.

## What the kit needs

### Independent of the site

Monitoring that relies on the shop’s Wi-Fi fails along with it. A SIM gives each monitor or gateway its own path out.

### Alarms that arrive

Plant rooms and cold stores are hard places for radio. A 4-network SIM uses whichever network reaches in best.

### Tiny data, every few minutes

Temperature readings are a few bytes each, so the smallest plan is usually plenty, even for a gateway covering a whole store.

## How it connects

Temperature monitor → mobile data → ThingSIM core (Private APN) → Internet or VPN → Monitoring platform (Alerts and records).

## Recommended setup

**50 MB, UK 4-network, one SIM per monitor or gateway.** Chilled vans are tracking and refrigeration at once; the same plan covers both.
