# MultiTech Conduit and rCell SIM cards, tested with ThingSIM

> MultiTech's Conduit gateways and rCell routers run mPower and are managed from DeviceHQ. A ThingSIM gives a Conduit its backhaul from wherever the sensors are.

## Setting up a ThingSIM in mPower (the Conduit and rCell web interface) and DeviceHQ

The APN goes in **Cellular → Cellular Configuration (mPower)**.

1. Activate the SIM in the ThingSIM portal, then insert it in the SIM slot (a micro SIM on the Conduit AP).
2. Log in to mPower and go to Cellular → Cellular Configuration.
3. Enable cellular, enter the APN from the portal and leave authentication off, with no username, password or SIM PIN.
4. If connection monitoring has a Roaming Network Timeout, leave it off. A ThingSIM always connects as a roaming SIM.
5. Click Submit, then Save and Apply.
6. Cellular → Diagnostics → Radio Status shows the radio registered with an IP address.

**Two SIMs:** Conduit gateways take one SIM. mPower 7 adds cellular profiles, so a second provider can be added where a model has the slot.

**Checking it works:** Cellular → Diagnostics (Radio Status) on the device, and the device's check-ins in DeviceHQ.

## Questions

### How much data does a MultiTech Conduit use?

LoRaWAN sensor traffic is small, and most Conduits fit in 250 MB a month, £1.20 on UK 4-network. Check the first month's usage in the portal.

### Does a ThingSIM work in a MultiConnect cellular modem?

Yes. The modem connects once the host sets the APN from the portal in its data context.

Suggested plan: 250 MB, UK 4-network, £1.20 a month per active SIM, ex VAT.
